Hello All, The TEDx (2019) video discussed concepts of scenario planning and traditional forecasting rooted in the origins of military applications. Hello All, Both decision-making methods, Delphi and the Nominal Group Technique (NGT), offer structure tactics to group decision-making but differ in communication styles, engagement, processes, time commitments, and considerations of group dynamics. Both methods were developed to help facilitate purposeful communication and to establish consensus and share in many of those similarities. I’m a big believer in the right tool for the right job; selecting either of these approaches’ hinges on the specific goals of the decision-making process, the characteristics of the group involved, and the accessibility of the resources. They are both similar because they offer a structured framework for decision-making. They provide a guide for the participants through the process of gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing information. Both methods also offer a degree of anonymity to the participants.
